In the vast universe of Star Wars, each character has their own story to tell. The trajectory of Barriss Offee in the saga is intriguing and full of unexpected twists, especially at the end of “Star Wars: Tales of the Empire.” In this article, we will explain what happens to Barriss Offee at the end of this story, unraveling her fate in the Star Wars universe.
Barriss Offee: From Jedi to Inquisitor Sister in Tales of the Empire
Barriss Offee was known for her pacifism, her strict adherence to the Jedi Code, and her deep connection to the Force. However, the Clone Wars sowed doubts in her heart, causing her to question the ideals of the Jedi Order and the Republic. The violence and corruption that surrounded her filled her with disillusionment, and she began to develop a distrust of her own comrades.
Ahsoka Tano’s Tragedy and the Turning Point
The turning point for Barriss Offee came when her friend and Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, was unjustly accused of bombing the Jedi Temple and assassinating several clones. Barriss, convinced of Ahsoka’s innocence, decided to take justice into her own hands. She orchestrated a terrorist attack on the Jedi Temple and framed Ahsoka, hoping to expose the corruption she believed plagued the Order.
The Fall to the Dark Side and the Birth of the Inquisitor Sister
Barriss Offee’s plan failed, and she was arrested and convicted of treason. However, her disillusionment and anger had made her vulnerable to the influence of the dark side. After being locked up in the Republic prison, Barriss was contacted by the Fourth Inquisitor Sister, Lyn Rakish, to join her at the Inquisitorius and become an Inquisitor Sister.
Barriss Offee’s Turn to Redemption
After a time as an Inquisitor, Barriss accompanies the Fourth Sister, Lyn Rakish, on a mission to hunt down a Jedi hiding on an Outer Rim planet. There, Barriss witnesses the cruelty of the Empire and how the promise of restoring order to the galaxy is a false excuse to mask mass killings against the innocent. They finally find the hidden Jedi and Barriss fights him. She manages to defeat him and somehow convinces him to surrender and accompany her to the Inquisitorius. But when the Jedi seems to accept the offer, the Fourth Sister attacks him from behind, seriously injuring him. This is the turning point that Barriss needed to realize that, although she had made mistakes in her past, this was not the path she wanted to follow.
Barriss Offee the Healer and the Open Ending in Star Wars: Tales of the Empire
Years go by and we see a much older Barriss, now a healer hidden in a world of ice. One day, parents with a Force-sensitive child come to her. But the Fourth Sister appears to kill the child and Barris stands between him and her former Inquisitor Sister. The parents and the child manage to escape but Barriss is mortally wounded by Lyn Rakish. Or maybe not. The ending is open-ended and with the supposed death of Barriss comes the redemption of the Fourth Sister. She carries her in her arms and prepares to heal her. It may seem that Barriss Offee dies in that ice world, but knowing Dave Filoni, it would not be surprising if Barriss managed to survive and we see her again in future animated series, or why not, in live-action series like Ahsoka.
