Final Fantasy Anime

There are many anime based on games, but there are very few based on as popular games as the Final Fantasy series. Now, you’ll see a list of all the titles available, although some of them are hard to find.

Final Fantasy: The Legend of the Crystals anime

It appears to be a sequel to Final Fantasy V, but this anime takes so many liberties that any resemblance to the original game is purely coincidental. Released in 1994, Final Fantasy: The Legend of the Crystals consists of only four episodes narrating the story of a distant descendant of Bartz, the protagonist of FFV, two centuries after the events in the game.

Final Fantasy VII: Last Order anime

Before the release of Crisis Core, Final Fantasy VII: Last Order was undoubtedly a perfect way to delve deeper into the crucial events of the game that occurred in the Nibelheim Mako reactor. However, the OVA took some liberties in one of the key moments that angered many fans. In the original game, Cloud Strife manages to surprise the all-powerful Sephiroth and throw him into the Lifestream, despite the vast difference in their powers. In Last Order, it’s Sephiroth who jumps into the Lifestream willingly.

On the Way to Smile: Episode Denzel

This OVA is set between the events of Final Fantasy VII and its cinematic sequel, Advent Children. It consists of several chapters, but this time, we’ll focus on the first episode, introducing a new character to the canon: Denzel. The OVA tells the tragic story of this little boy. Denzel’s parents died when the Sector VII plate fell, and the uplifting part shows Reeve taking care of the poor boy from then on.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ardyn anime

Its duration is only 13 minutes, but it’s worth watching for the complete experience of Final Fantasy XV and a better understanding of the events narrated in the game. The prologue and Episode Ardyn itself help contextualize the motivations of the main game’s villain. Ardyn comes out of this brief chapter much stronger as a villain, making him one of the best antagonists in the saga.

Final Fantasy XV: Brotherhood

Brotherhood, a five-episode anime about Noctis and his friends, and a sixth for Lady Lunafreya, is a must-watch to understand the feelings and motivations of the three companions of the protagonist. Ignis, Prompto, and Gladio. In general, it’s heartwarming. Needless to say, the visual quality of this anime is tremendous and leaves us wanting more.

Final Fantasy: Unlimited

ff anime

Twins Ai and Yu venture into an alternate dimension where they meet a girl named Lisa Pacifist and get involved in absurd plots. Unfortunately, Final Fantasy: Unlimited had such low audience ratings that it was canceled before completion, as only 25 of the originally planned 52 episodes were aired.”
